Shopping is something which women and men both like. Women just like to shop and men like it because they can have the control of TV remote when their wife is away for shopping. Jokes apart, if you are among those who love shopping, here are some amazing tips for weight loss during shopping. Yes you read it correct, weight loss can be done while you are enjoying shopping. The only key is to change the way you shop, read on.

Shopping involves a lot of activities which if planned properly, can result in a substantial amount of weight loss. Isn’t it fantastic, by just taking care in small activities, you would lose those extra calories and be in shape. Below are a few tips which can help you lose weight while shopping.

Park your car at a distant place from the shopping entrance, so that you can walk up to the shopping mall. Moreover prefer walking down to the shopping malls which are on walking distances.

Prefer shopping basket over trolleys. This ensures that you hand carry the items that you intend to buy and hence affects considerable weight loss. Using backpacks is also highly recommended.

Go through all the sections/aisle of the store first to analyze what shopping options you have. This ensures that you walk throughout the store losing some weight and also make the most appropriate purchase. If you know that you will not need anything on a particular aisle, still walk through and continue your shopping. On an average following would be the number of calories burnt while you slowly walk through the store for weights ranging from 100 to 300 pounds.

Moving through the stores at top speed would be beneficial if you intend to lose more calories by doing the same amount of shopping. For this it is recommended that you wear walking or running shoes while you are shopping.

Use stair case instead of elevators. Moving up and down by stair case would certainly ensure that you do a considerable amount of weight loss.

One of the most important things that you need to ensure is that you don’t eat any junk food in the shopping mall else that would completely defeat the purpose of performing activities for weight loss.

On an average one hour of shopping of non-grocery items can burn 160 calories per hour.

Avoid shopping online.

During three hours of shopping in a large shopping mall, an easy going shopper may spend about half of their time walking slowly. This adds up to about three miles of walking. The other half of the time is spent standing and looking at items or standing in line to make purchases/pay bills.

Using our estimates above, this adds up to almost 400 calories for a person weighing 100 pounds, 750 calories for person weighing 200 pounds, and 1,100 calories for 300-pound person.

A more competitive “super-shopper” may walk up to 2 miles in a three-hour shopping activity. Along with lots of walking, reaching for items, and waving at friends, trying out clothes calorie burning can top 500 calories for our 100 pound person and up to 1,000 calories or more for the more substantial 200- to 300-pound shoppers.

Well, if you are thinking that a frequent shopping would be expensive deal for weight loss, then probably you forgot the concept of window shopping.

Note almost all these activities mentioned here can be performed while window shopping too.
